Knoppix is installed on hda, windows and gentoo on hdb. Grub is on
hdb, but only windows was booting. Gentoo, on hdb, wasn't booting
totally. As I had a knoppix CD, I installed knoppix on hda.

Knoppix on the hard drive, hda, booted up fine

Of course, grub showed knoppix, gentoo and windows. Only knoppix
worked. That's ok for now.

However, there was no internet connection. I need to set not just the
IP address, but also the default gateway, yes?

Here I am on a live CD:

However, do I need to set the DNS server manually?

When the connection is with a Linksys wireless USB NIC, the DNS is
quite different versus the Asus WL-330g wireless NIC, which connects to
the ethernet. Ah, I'm thinking that probably the WL-330g, which is
what I'm using, does the DNS on its own? All I'm seeing is what the
Asus device forwards on.

thanks,
