Key keeps disappearing

Linksys WUSB54G (USB to Wireless-G)
Win-XP home
2Wire 1000SW (dsl modem, gateway, WAP)

The network works fine, except that several times a week the PC loses
the WEP key. Re-entering the key restores functionality.

In the "wireless network connections" box, I have checked "Use Windows
to configure my wireless network settings."

On the properties page, I have checked "Data Encryption (WEP enabled),
and "Network authentication (shared mode)."

I have not checked "This key is provided for me automatically."

Any ideas would be very appreciated.

Could be a problem with the wireless card (or its drivers). Is the
'Wireless Zero Configuration' service started and set to automatic?

I'm not sure what you mean by "wireless card." My Linksys network
adapter is actually an external usb to wifi adapter. I do not know what
the Wireless Zero Configuration service is. Can you explain?
