I have compiled each test 2.6 kernel, but my ethernet does't work. I have no
trouble whatsoever with kernel 2.5.75

I use 'make oldconfig' and xconfig, but to no avail!

Any suggestions would be appreciated, or for someone to say that they are
not getting the ethernet to work word at least make me believe that it's the
test kernel.
Thanks

Suggestions like "post the error messages"?

I get no error messages. It boots, but the ethernet doesn't work. I used
the
same config file that I use for 2.5.75

Look in /var/log/messages and /var/log/boot.log. That's where error messages
typically go. And stop top posting.

Excuse my ignorance, but I don't know what 'top posting' is.

Oh, that is really funny. Notice about the post you are reading right now,
that my reply is BELOW your original text. This is called "bottom-posting".
It assures that replies will appear below the text to which they reply,
making it easy for readers to follow the thread's progression through time.

Top-posting, by contrast, reverses the temporal order of the messages,
making it nearly impossible to follow the unfolding ideas:

A: Because it's dangerous.

Q: Why shouldn't one cross the street when the light is red?

A: No.

Q: Do you always answer a question before you have even
_read_ what is the problem?

A: Yes.

Q: Is the above confusing?

I hope this is not a top post!
Here are the messages from a boot with kernel 2.5.75 (ethernet works) and
boot with kernel 2.6.0 test6 (ethernet doesn't work)

I said "look", not "post". Never post gigantic logs to Usenet.
