Hello,

has anyone came across this problem with KB889587?

our network almost went to a standstill after applying updates today and
rebooting the machines.
the 2 domain controllers could not talk to each other and trying to connect
to the server (ie \\server04, \\server06 etc) caused a popup saying
Arithmetic result exceeded 32 bits.

after uninstalling several patches, rebooting the machines and trying again.
i finally got the network back up and running...

has anyone else has the same error?
regards.

i will have to block this patch untill their is a valid solution

For your information:

As stated before I experienced the same problem. It does not affect domain
controllers only, as I have one server which is not a domain controller.
After the update is applied, the target machine seems to generate the stated
error. Removing the update solves the problem for reaching the target
machine.

FYI - The reason some of you can't find it is it's KB899587, NOT KB889587 - I
got same problem, uninstalling fixed it - thank goodness for this user group,
that's the 2nd 2003 "fix" which broke our network access in 2 months!
