What type of UK phone socket? Is it a regular old fashioned socket -
in which case you don't have ISDN and the modem is useless to you.

You could look to upgrade your analogue telephone line to ISDN -
contact BT sales.

You couldn't make that up, could you ?!

You probably don't have an ISDN connection to your premises, and will
need to have BT install it, if indeed ISDN is what you want.

This will require you to spend out approx £74.99 for BT to convert the
line to an ISDN one, and then install the relevant 'box' on the wall in
your premises.

Subsequent rental of the line will be approx £25.00 a month to BT, in
addition to any fees you pay Zen for internet access, and the cost of
any phone calls you make that aren't included in your BT Together
package.

So, I that's going to be approx £75.00 for the ISDN, plus £30 to Zen,
plus the cost of calls.

Did you truly believe that by buying an ISDN terminal adaptor (modem)
you would get ISDN? Or did you buy the modem not knowing what you were
buying?

Which package are you signed up to Zen with? Dial-up or Broadband?
I hope you signed up to Broadband, and have simply made an error in the
modem you have bought .... otherwise, methinks you are in for a nasty
financial shock if ISDN is the way you intend to go.

Thanks guys,
I've clearly confused ADSL with ISDN and bought the wrong modem. not to
worry. It's amazing how little info there is about the differences between
these two, I think it's no wonder people get confused. Last week I just
thought broadband was broadband and the only choice was between cable
satelite and BT. I know better now, but I'm still confused, but I don't
think that will ever change.
Thanks a lot to everyone,
Cheers.

Remember the 12 month contract and £50 removal if the exchange goes ADSL
live!

A lot of people i speak to think it's just BT.
They have no idea that they can use whichever provider they like.
