Just Switched From Pipex To Virgin

Hi guys

Not sure if this has been covered as I'm new to this group, however I have
just changed from Pipex to Virgin. This is a move that I am really
regretting it because the download speeds are slow (considering that it's
supposed to be up to 8GB, it's slower than my previous account that I think
was only 1MB). More annoyingly though, I also keep getting 'Page Can Not Be
Displayed' errors (which happens even on sites that never go down like
Google, EBay, etc.) and regularly pages don't load properly (images missing,
etc).

So, I'm thinking of going back to Pipex as I have never had any problems
with them. Before doing so, obviously I want to keep my options open, so
will be interested to hear of any recommendations of broadband ISP's.

I'm not too worried about having 8MB downloads speed, 1-2MB will be fine for
what I use it for. One thing I don't really want is to be limited (not that
I'm a hardcore user). So if it's limited, then I would like at least
15GB/month bandwidth to be sure. Of course, reliability is important too.

Ideally, I would also like to find an ISP for around £15-18 per month if
possible.

Have a wander over to ....

and have a read around the various forums. The "Which ISP
(residential)" forum is a good start.

Personally I would recommend NewNet. In your price range, very
reliable and with knowledgeable UK based support.

Yeah, I have looked at the website you mentioned, but I am interested real
life experience/comments.

However, I will have a look at the forum, but to be honest I prefer Usenet
to forums. Forums are OK, but you can't beat the real thing. ;-)

Went from Nildram (part of pipex) to Zen and it's been fine. 17.99 a
month, no contract and speeds seem good to me

Have you cleared caches etc. ?

If you're lucky enough to be connected to a Be exchange, they do unlimited
packages for 18 quid a month. Have a look a samknows.com.

[Amber] Service is running slowly, or has intermittent problems

Let them know over at: virginmedia.feedback of your issues.

They do have support groups but not yet for the ADSL side, just the xBY and
recently xNTL cable.

You could also ask other users at: virginmedia.discussion.broadband

I ordered my MAC from Virgin the other day as the mobile + Broadbad (yes the
"n" is missing on purpose) deal I was on expired. I've ordered with Be, I'll
let the group know how it goes.
