I am with BT Yahoo 1mb. These are my test results.

Direction

True Speed (estimated)

Downstream 928 Kbps (116.0 KB/sec) 1002 Kbps (inc. overheads)
Upstream 245 Kbps (30.6 KB/sec) 264 Kbps (inc. overheads

They're perfectly acceptable, yes. I get 119.4k/sec on my 1mbit on NTL.
(well, before it came 1.5mbit)

If those were my figures i'd be tweaking my MTU/RWIN a bit. Try RWIN of
13900 and MTU of 1430. Use DrTCP to accomplish this on Windows.

http://www.dslreports.com/front/DRTCP021.exe change TCPReceive Window
to 13900 and MTU on your NIC to 1430. Reboot and run the speed test
again.

Gohh, patience is wearing thin now. How hard can this be? See that box
that says MTU? There are two. One next to your network interface card
and one box above it. Both boxes are currently blank. Enter 1430 in
it. SAVE, REBOOT. DONE.

On that program i cannot see anything that relates to a network interface
card
All I have is
TCP Receive Window Path MTU Discovery
Windowns Scaling Black Hole detection
Time stamping Max Duplicate ACK's
Selective Acks TTL
Dial Up RAS MTU
Adapter settings (with nothing in it) MTU (with nothing in it)

You need to select your means of connecting in that adapter settings
box. http://chris.lab6.com/drtcp.png shows my settings. As i said,
select your network adapter, then in the MTU box next to it make sure it
reads 1430, (mine reads 1500) then you're all set.

There is absolutely nothing in that box for me to select anything chris its
completely empty.

Oh, hmm, erm well i'm stumped then Are you connecting via USB by any
chance?

btw - remember to change your RWIN (TCP Receive Window) back to 14600.
