I have two 4 way network hubs wit RJ45 sockets.

Can I run a patch cable between them to give me a 6 way hub (one on each is
used by the patch cable). Or do I need to use some sort of cross over cable?

Thanks in advance.

John

You need a cross-over cable unless one of the hubs has an "uplink" port
(which is just a port with crossed connections really). Some switches
have ports that will auto configure to crossover if necessary so you can
use a straight cable with one of those but unless you know you have one
like that use a crossover cable.

Some hubs have a switch that allows you to swap one of the ports between
straight-through and crossover.
