This should be an easy task, but I just cannot figure out what I am doing
wrong. Please help!

Setting up a new small LAN, running AD, DNS, DHCP, WINS, and Exchange. Four
servers altogether on top of server 2003 standard edition. As I try to join
the first laptop (XP Professional) to the domain, I get the following
message: 'the network path was not found'. I have read the instructions on
how to do this on several books and web sources, but to no avail.

Dcpromo and netdiag run without a problem, I can ping all servers and the
laptop using hostnames as well as IP addressess from all points. My network
places on the servers show all four servers, and when I search for the
laptop, by name or IP, I can see it no problem. The reverse does not work
though, I cannot see the servers from the laptop, even though ping works.

Windows firewall are off on all machines and the NICs seem to be configured
right. What am I missing?

Hello mbelt,

If you have more then one DNS server replace the loopback address 127.0.0.1
with the real ip address of the server. Then try again.
