Join Domain across VPN

I have all server 2003 servers. A domain is established
on one end. A VPN has been created using cisco routers.
A checkpoint firewall sits behind the routers. No
NATing. The rules are to allow any any for both networks
across the VPN. From the established domain, I can
remote desktop to all the server on the other end. From
the other end, I can ping, and see all the servers on the
established domain.

Problem. When I setup the server to join the domain, it
goes across the VPN and actually adds the computer name
to AD, then turns disabled, and the server comes back
with an error, RPC server unavailable. This is after it
asked me for credentials to join the domain and sat there
for a minute.

RPC service is running. In fact, I setup another server
on the established domain and made it another DC just to
ensure I can do everything on my end fine.

Suggestions?

It sounds like a DNS problem. Active Directory uses DNS to find logon
servers. What DNS server address do the clients in each site use? Do they
use the DNS server which has the AD SRV records?
