Since I left my last ADSL LLU ISP I have had over 4 months trouble
getting the new ISP to get connected with each blaming each other & both
blaming BT.

After I'd managed to get to speak to someone at the BT Tag Helpline on
Friday , a BT Openreach engineer rang me from the local exchange to tell
me that as far as he could see my line was still connected to LLU
broadband. I've just tried it & yep I've still got broadband from my
previous ISP over 4 months after I stopped the direct debit.

What should I do?

Ask them for a MAC and give it to your preferred supplier?

I went through that process over 4 months ago when I stopped using the
ADSL connection.

Who did you give the MAC too?

It was an LLU line - no MAC involved. I gave notice to my old ISP,
terminated the direct debit and stopped using the service.

In expectation that it would imminently stop working I switched to using
VM cable for my broadband.

Unless the line was fully unbundled (MPF) and so your phoneline was with
the ISP etc, then a MAC is still used to migrate to another provider. I
would contact them again and get a MAC to migrate the service to your
prefered provider, or cease it with them and wait until you can start again.
