Hi

I am having an issue with my Terayon TJ210.

I can connect Ok on USB, but I cannot get a connection on Ethernet with my
newer PCs.

I have only managed to get a connection when using an old pc with a very old
NIC.
Here I was able to get an IP via DCHP and make a full comection to the
internet.

My more recent pcs, with 10/100 full duplex PCI NICs fail to obtain an IP
address and the connection data shows packets only going one way.
I have tried turning the cable modem off and on again, IPCONFIG/release
IPCONFIG/RENEW and different cables (all straight through).

All above test were with cable modem connected direct to pc.

I have the same problem with my router, it can communicate to the pcs, but
not to the cable modem. DHCP release and DHCP renew seem to have no effect.

I have read that there may be a problem with the auto negotiation (half/full
duplex confusion) on the NIC in the cable modem, can anyone confirm this?

I have an NTL engineer coming on Wednesday and I would like to get my setup
running using the router (Linksys WRT54GS). Am I correct in thinking that
exchanging the cable modem for one of the newer models is likely to solve
the problem?

Regards
David

Have you tried a x-over cable if you are using a straight one or vice-
versa?
