I have a desktop PC, a laptop, a wireless Netgear wg614 router, Comcast cable
modem, and a vonage router for my phone.
I have it connected as follows.. cable modem -> connected to the WAN port on
the Netgear router, from the Netgear router I have one LAN port connected to
my desktop and another LAN port connected to the vonage router.
My problem is this...
From my laptop I cannot access the desktop or the printer attached to the
desktop. I can "see" it in the workgroup, I am also able to ping it.
They are in the same network (laptop IP 192.168.1.3 and desktop is
192.168.1.4).
I have enabled file and print sharing. I uncheked the simple file sharing
under folders -> options. (I have read various help threads before posting
here).
When I try to access the desktop, it says it is connected but I don't have
permission. (I did not enable a password for accessing that PC, and if I did
I have no idea where I would have done it.). I am able to access the internet
on the laptop.
Help! It has been like 3 days that I have been pondering over this. I even
installed network magic, all that did was give me a fancy user interface
telling me what I already know. Now my laptop lags with the network magic
software and I am going to have to remove it.
Thank you for any and all help that I can get!
