what isps aren't capping ?

Been reading this group trying to find the answer to this seemingly
obvious question but getting nowehere...

am on btyahoo, what isp's aren't capping and which ones do people
reccomend ? (is there a alist somewhere ?)

any help appreciated.

If you have a LLU ISP in your area (these will generally be the ones offering
8Mb speeds at the moment) then they are not so driven by the need to
introduce capping that the other ISPs feel.

(bandwidth costs from BT are about 85p/GB, so with a 30GB cap, the user
will typically cost the ISP quite a few pounds a month).


Plusnets fair usage proposals look about the best that you're likely
to get, as I think that more ISPs will introduce caps in the nearish
term.

Bandwidth costs from BT are about 50-60 pence.

Zen internet has no cap and uses a different pricing model to BT and others
who have introduced caps.

Ask BT what the costs to them are, before they sell on bandwidth at insanely
inflated prices. It's an absolute scandal that they are charging ISPs
somewhere between 50-80p per gig. Bandwidth in huge bulk costs about 8-10p
per gig. BT's greed is what is making ISPs force capping upon us.

Demon don't cap but are slightly more expensive than the mass who do (is
there a correlation here, I wonder?). They never even capped their Surftime
unmetered option, unlike most providers who suddenly decided that
"unlimited access" didn't actually mean what most people thought. I suspect
it's a case of deciding who's done their sums properly and provisioned
their network correctly.

Pipex don't cap downloads but do cap their newsgroup usage. You can
top it up if you need to. Best way to do it is to get newsgroup
access thru someone else and have unlimited downloads ))

We don't cap, port block, proxy, or otherwise limit usage (and
provide a SMTP relay server)

ntl freedom doesn't cap apparently (but ntl home does).
