ISA server newbie question

My connection is via ADSL line using PPOE, I'm currently connecting using a
linksys with gateway IP set to 192.168.1.1,
WAN IP needs configured for DHCP, 255.255.255.252 subnet mask and login for
WAN is via PPOE, I have a UserName and password configured in the linksys.

What should I do if I want to replace the Linksys with the ISA server.
Cuurently I configured the LAN card to be at 192.168.1.1 (so default gateway
for clients stay same), I set my outbound card to use DHCP but I get a weird
address, in the 10.0.0.X range whereas my IP address obtained from my ISP is
in the 209.X>X>X range, so it seems that the DHCP for card 2 is not picking
up correct address. Also how do I configure PPPOE settings and username and
password for WAN access on ISA server. My internal network connectivity to
other computers on my small domain is OK. I can see my shares from the ISA
server and I can ping back and forth OK. So my wiring is good.

Thanks for any help.

Bob

I wouldn't get even close to PPPoE with ISA Server. Leave the Linksys box
in place, put the ISA between it and your LAN. This creates a Back-to-Back
DMZ between the Linksys box and the ISA (if you don't mind dealing with one
of those). Your existing Private IP Range would now be on the DMZ and you
would use a new and different Private IP range on the "Internal" side of the
ISA where your LAN is.

If you perform, on the Linksys box, a full "One-to-One NAT" from the Public
IP# of the Linksys to the External IP of the ISA you will pretty much create
the same effect as the ISA being directly on the Internet and the DMZ would
be effectivy "not there" as far as the Linksys box is concerned. Or you
could be less extreme and only perform Static NAT for specific things using
the Linksys box.

Thank you very much Phillip. If I may ask a second question, what about
replacing a Watchguard thats connecting to High speed cable?(its at my
customer site and thats what he thinks he should do, but I'm not sure, thats
why I<m testing all this out here before I get into it too deep). Although
it doesn't seem to use PPPoe, would the architecture you suggest for PPPoe
on the Linksys be more appropriate than replacing the WatchGuard, completely
with the ISA.

I always love the idea of replacing Watchgaurd totally with ISA.

The only reason I made the last suggestion was completely due to the
existence of the PPPoE.
