I'm trying to figure out how to set up our internal network for IPV6, but
don't fully understand everything. Please find below what I did (and I tried
a lot more):
I have the prefix 2001:5c0:9eb7/48 available for me. I chose to use the
subnet 2001:5c0:9eb7:1 for my internal network (can that be done like
this?). Questions at the end of the info.
My windows 2003 server has one NIC and one Gateway 6 client.
I gave the "real" NIC the address 2001:5c0:9eb7:1:0:0:1:1 and set some
manual routes to the Gateway 6
Below the routing table for my server:
Publish Type Met Prefix Idx Gateway/Interface
Name
------- -------- ---- ------------------------ --- ---------------------
yes Manual 0 ::/0 4 IPV6
no Manual 0 2001:5c0:8fff:fffe::a952/128 4 IPV6
yes Manual 0 2001:5c0:9eb7:1::/64 5 2001:5c0:9eb7:1::1:1
no Manual 0 ::/0 4
2001:5c0:8fff:fffe::<secret>
I set up a client with the address 2001:5c0:9eb7:1:0:0:2:1 and set up some
manual routes.
Routing table:
Publish Type Met Prefix Idx Gateway/Interface
Name
------- -------- ---- ------------------------ --- ---------------------
no Autoconf 16 ::/0 4
fe80::219:66ff:fe5b:6eb1
no Manual 0 2001:5c0:9eb7:1::/64 4 Integrated
no Autoconf 16 2001:5c0:9eb7::/64 4
fe80::219:66ff:fe5b:6eb1
no Manual 0 ::/0 4 2001:5c0:9eb7:1::1:1
I have two questions:
1. What is the meaning of the (Teredo?) FE80 addresses
2. When I ping from server to workstation or vice versa I get timeouts. What
is wrong in my routing or is it something else?
