Hello, i loaded slackware linux onto an old computer of mine and am
using it as a firewall for my network. I was wondering if there is
anyway to set up a dynamic fire wall so that it will block computers on
the inside of my network from accessing websites (ie. porn, ads, etc)?

I do not think iptables can do it. You can try ITShield Firewall
(http://www.itshield.com). It can filter out ads, and work with WebSense
(http://www.websense.com) to block unwanted activities.

This is not firewall related, this is proxy matter - try to use
squid/squidguard for your task.

Squid works nicely for me. I have about 400 users and I don't have a need
for squidguard, although you should check it out. Fairly easy to make it
"go" www.squid-cache.org , and theres a list of porn domains, etc, at
http://web.onda.com.br/orso/index.html for you to filter.

The problem with filtering ( for me ) was that with so many users, it
introduced a lot of overhead ( the list is gigantic) and killed my
performance. So I dropped it and now we just keep the access logs and review
them occasionally. It may not be an issue for you. Theres' also a dandy
squid report generator on that "onda" website.....
