Can anybody help me with this one. I've got a little 3 node network
with 2 windoodle clients and a rh9 server. All of a sudden, the
windoodles couldn't access the internet. What happened? I had me a
regular paranoid hissyfit. I swapped out my rc.firewall, I fiddled with
the network parameters on the windoodles, no soap! I pinged from
everywhere(all internal addresses good, windoodles fail on extip!). One
windoodle is dual boot w/ SuSE 8.2. I boot linux on this box and it
gets the internet fine. Then the other windoodle comes back to life as
if by magic.

Normally I'd slog it on out 'til I found something, or redo the entire
config, but this is finals week and I can't afford the b.s.. The wife
is freaking out. She has finals as well. We both have assignments that
need to be submitted over the net, and snow emergency is the watch word
these days where we live. Has anyone been down this road?

btw, The wife doesn't know it yet, but a new laptop is headed for her
channukah bush. I've been whispering the virtues of linux while she
sleeps. Hopefully, she'll finally come around, load linux on that box,
and render all this drama moot. I can only hope!

Hi,

No need to panic, because linux is fine. If it breaks, it breaks for a
reason.

I think you have jumped to conclusion too early. Never heard of this
type of problem with iptables before. If you remember the time of the
freeze-up, can you take a look at the /var/log/message to see if there
is any ominous messages there. For example, the ppp link was down at
that exact moment of your reboot?
