IPSec VPN over Motorola SurfBoard SB4200

Hi,

I can't seem to get an IPSec connection working over my Motorola
SurfBoard SB4200 cable modem. The local end is freeswan and the other
end is a SonicWall, the encryption protocol is DES/IKE. I am
suspecting that the cable modem doesn't pass the IPSec packets
through. Did anybody ever get IPSec working through this MODEM?

In Win2000, no problem. But there I do not see what happens.

In Mandrake 9.1 I do have a problem, however. The Eurodocsis modem
uses L2TP to make a connection with my ISP. The Cisco VPN client should
be able to make a connection, but I get this error (in syslog):

kernel unknown mac header length (8).

I suspect L2TP garbles the mac headers, but I not sure.

I guess this doesn't help much, but maybe somebody else will have a clue?
