ipconfig /renew

hi,
I was using Cable internet connection before. After I hooked up my computer
to wireless home network, I can't get internet access any more. even though
I can get good connection with wireless router, My IP address is not
assigned by wireless router(it is still something wrong). I tried to use
ipconfig to release or renew the ip address. the command can not be done.
anyone has similiar problem before?

Hi!

Is he Ip something with 169...? Perhaps your DHCP on your WLAN router is not
enabled.

The effect that ipconfig is "disabled" I think I've seen that with internet
connection sharing under windows. If you use it, try disabling it.

Hopefully you followed these steps:
1. with your PC directly connected to cable modem, RELEASE the IP
ADDRESS(ipconfig or winipcfg)
2. power down cable modem
3. insert the wireless hub/router
4. power up
- first cable modem
- second wireless hub
- third PCs

If you didn't do it this way reconnect your PC directly to the cable modem
and do the release. Otherwise you might have to call the cable company to
reset.

Does you wireless hub get an IP address correctly?
