IPC$ sessions

Basically there is something (dunno what) that is logs onto the computer via the IPC$ and stays connected for X time. X meaning it could be 5 mins or 1 hour it does not have a consistant time factor.
There are never any files that are open, just sessions? Weird thing some of the sessions are not accessable by mapping to the drive and there is never any usernames, just computer names that are logged on and it seems to be very sporadic.

Given only this information, no meaningful answer is possible. What type of
network connection do you have, what type of network are you on, etc, etc
....

You will almost always get one IPC$ connection just from being connected to
the NT LAN, not much you can do about it. This is the inter-process
communication service and is probably established when you log onto the
network. It likely stays open for a variable time depending on what you and
the network are doing to ... or for ... each other. It's not a reason to
worry.
