Hi to all,

I have to question:

-What is the difference between a HOST neme and a NETBIOS name?

-What is the difference between a HOSTS and LMHOSTS files?

Best regards

Kangarello

Basically the same difference as exists between DNS and WINS.

HOSTS is a list of DNS-style names and their IP addresses. DNS was
developed as a name service to overcome the limitations of HOSTS files.
LMHOSTS is a list of Netbios names and IP addresses. WINS is the name server
developed to automate name resolution of Netbios names.
