Hello

a long time ago I have had a urgent need to perform ip networking ove
parallel cable (data recovery on a laptop without ethernet network
interface) this worked perfectly and although time taken was desperately
long, I succeeded in recovering almost all lost data.

Today for some other reasons i need to recover data from a PC with broken
eth interface but on which several usb ports are still free and I wonder if
usb ip networking is possible over a pc to pc usb cable

Thanks for infos..

There is another solution. I have a netgear FA120 USB ethernet adapter
running on my mini-itx since the onboard nic died. You need the
usbnet kernel module. I bought the adapter at OfficeMax for around $20-$30.

You can do this with a USB host-to-host cable (aka USB link cable) which is
actually more than just a cable as it contains a bridge controller but make
sure you get one supported by usbnet.
