I am working on a small home network with a Linksys Rounter and a
dynamic IP Address. I have a need to keep the IP Address assigned to
my main computer never to change. In other words, when I type
"ipconfig" the IP address is 192.168.1.101 - - - Somehow, this morning
it changed to 192.168.1.100.

How can I get it to stick with 192.168.1.101 and never change?

Routers sometimes allocate dynamic IP in the order that computers request
them (eg the order in which they are powered up) so it looks like you may
have switched on your "main" computer before your "secondary" one today. If
they are both on the same power block it becomes a race to see which one
requested an IP address first.

Look up how to allocate a "Static IP" in the Linksys manual.

In the linksys router (DHCP tab, Linksys setup page http://192.168.1.1) you
can specify the starting DHCP address and how many IP's you want distributed
by the DHCP server. I suggest you have the DHCP start IP at 192.168.1.102.
Then 192.168.1.100 will not be allocated by DHCP. However you must then
configure your computer to NOT get IP automatically and set the IP yourself.
The gateway will be the router IP (usually 192.168.1.1) You'll set the DNS
IP's to those of your ISP. You can get those IP's in the Status tab of the
Linksys setup page

Or use a number lower than 100 (but above x.x.x.1), use that for your DMZ or
for static IP port routing... Like John said, you'll need to configure your
computer to use that static address manually...
