On my subnet, I can ping an addres (192.168.1.37) and it shows that it is
being used. Is the a command that I can use to find out what the common name
of what is using that address??? I am on a win2K domain. My DC is running
DHCP. The person before me had 1 to 100 reserved as static IP address (the
rest of the network uses dynamic addresses) but the list he left me was not
complete. I am trying to figure out an easy way to search my network and
update my labels.

nbtstat -A XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX (note the "A" is capitalized).

Ping -a [ip#]
or
NbtStat -a [ip#]

Don't forget the "-a"
Keep it lower case.

It works even if lower case,..inspite of what the "NbtStat /?" says. I
don't know way that is the case, but I always took advantage of it and just
left it lower case. But doing it with Ping will only work with lower case,
upper case won't work.
