That is the message we get.

Hi

We are running Win98 clients on a Win2k server SP4. When trying to logon to
the network we get the message "Invalid Network Password". Know this message
actually takes 10 to 20 seconds to come up.

I know the password is correct. Because when it is not the error message is
diffrent and much faster.

Hitting Ctrl-Alt-Del to reboot does not solve the problem. This can be done
10 times without ever locking the account on the network.

The only solution I have found is to cancel on the network password and then
restart. Only then are we able to logon to the network.

I beleive the problem to be a communication problem, since after many tries
the account should be lock if the password is actually incorrect.

I'm just not sure where to start looking.

Thanks

do you have this key in your registry ?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Network\Real
Mode Net
AutoLogon=<x>

delete it (backing up first as always :> )

can you logon to the w2k server directly using one of the client accounts ?

isolate one win98 computer logon/password and reenter the password on the
w2k server for that account
