Internet Sharing & email problems

I'm using a Linksys router BEFSR41 V.2 sharing a DSL conntection with PPPoE
over Ethernet. Two computers sharing the Internet. Both computers can use
the WWW but one is having trouble with email which is a second email address
on one account. When first using Outlook Express you can download email but
can't send email. When trying to get email again later it hangs up. All of
incoming and out going settings look okay in Outlook Express. The ISP uses
Dynamic addressing which I have set on both compters and on the router. Is
there something else I should check? Both computers have Windows 98. One is
using Eudora for the email which works. The Outlook Express using the second
email address has the problem. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

Hello,

This is just a guess and hopefully any of the MVP's
reading this will not consider your issue rosolved yet
and continue to post ......

However, I was having intermittant problems with OE
connectivity recently too.

I finally got the problem to re-create and solved it by
doing the following:

tools / accounts / mail tab / highlight your account /
properties / connection tab / check the box "always
connect to this account using" and select "local area
network"

Even though it was the only option available, as soon as
I checked it, the problem was resolved instantly and has
not returned as yet.

Also / did you receive any "time out" errors?

Yes I'm getting a time out as such:

A time-out occurred while communicating with the server. Account: 'MTS
Mail', Server: 'pop.mts.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No,
Error Number: 0x800CCC19

I know the account works because I tried using OE on the other computer and
it seems to be working fine. I don't think it could be the router or the
network setup as the newsgroup works and WWW works from this computer but
just not the Email. I did try Thunderbird also and it times out also.

I tried this and did have network checked.

Hi Again,

1st) In the error report it mentions SSL / are you sure
you have correctly checked or unchecked the proper SSL
boxes in:

tools / accounts / mail tab / properties / advanced

according to your mail server's requirements?

If you're sure that's right. then the only thing I have
left is:

Because you can access WWW and all seems well except for
the one OE account. On other occasions of connectivity
problems with OE, I have also had to simply go into:

tools / accounts / mail tab

and delete the problem account. I have then recreated the
same account again, re-entering all the needed
information again.
Even though I am positive that all the information was
already correct, and that I simply did a repeat of the
info, for some reason it worked again after that. ? ! ?

Good Luck with it,

I tied to setup the account again but this didn't work, also SSL doesn't
have to be set.

I sent a telenet connection "telenet pop.mts.net 110" which worked. I was
able to connect to the Mail exchange server.
When I put in "telenet smpt.net 25" I couldn't connect. Does this mean
Outlook Express is corrupted on this computer?

I tried this on the computer that is working telenet connected on both
ports.

How can one fix this?

Thanks for the help!
