Please help!

I am networked with another computer which connects mine
to the internet, it has always worked great, but
yesterday, I was downloading a new pop-up stopper (Wasn't
any good, so I deleted it.) Now it has knocked off my
internet connection and all that comes up is:

'Internet Gateway - Unconfirmed'

I have system restore, but I think it might be faulty as
it has never made a restore point when it is supposed to.

I read something about how the 'Internet Gateway' problem
could have something to do with 'tcp/ip'? I don't
understand it at all, I would really like to get it fixed
as I am handing it over to my brother and he is looking
really forward to getting it, but without an internet
connection, it is usless!

Any replies are apprieciated.

Thanks,
Lyndsey

When you check out Carey's links, keep this in mind as well; the "Internet
Gateway" is the device on the LAN which is directly connected to the
Internet (it has the modem connection; be it Cable, Dial-Up, or DSL).

If you are using ICS on the Internet connected computer, that computer is
the "Internet Gateway". If you use a router, as many HSI user use (still all
to uncommon in my opinion), the router is the "Internet Gateway". Your
computer apparently can't find its way to the "Internet Gateway".
