Internet Gateway device created in Network Connections when I removed Internet Connection Sharing

I had ICS enabled on a dial-up connection to share it over my network until
I got broadband.

Now that the router has arrived (though my line hasn't yet been
broadbanded), I've removed ICS from the dial-up connection. But I notice
that having done that, an entry Internet Connection in a group Internet
Gateway has appeared in the Network Connections window. It shows as
permanently "Connected" even when the dial-up connection is not connected.

Should I be concerned about this? Is it a remnant of ICS that wasn't deleted
properly when I removed ICS from the dial-up connection? I've tried
disabling it; normally it stays disabled after a reboot but occasionally it
comes back to life!

Nope, its perfectly normal. Got the same here on a fresh install even
after running Network Setup Wizard and telling it internet access is
through another computer or gateway. I think its XPs way of saying that
it can talk to the router/PC thats connected to the net.

I can confirm however that on computers connected to ADSL modem routers
that have had internet access problems have always had that icon
missing and internet access has been restored when it reappeared.

This appears if UPnP services is enabaled on your router
