Does anyone have any pointers to setting up ex: a server in my house to be
internet facing through ex: COMCAST, through LinkSys G Router?

I'm looking for a Dummy's Guide type of document/book that shows ex: what to
not to do to create a basic secure internet site.

I don't want to spend a bunch of money to have someone host my site when it
is basically a show and tell developer site that may be up or down at
different times, etc.

Things like what ports to use, not use, things to watch out for, etc.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

You should check the terms of service on running servers, but
Comcast offers personal web pages. You can design with Expressions
Web, Sharepoint, Visual Studio, etc. and post content there.

Thank you for the tip Barb. The problems I run into have to do with most of
those sites not allowing DLLs, just script, ex: ASP.NET script.

My sites have lots of DLLs, WebServices, etc. the types of things that are
hard and costly to maintain.

I send in a list of questions to some of these places and they say that I
need to get a full blow hosting company to do this.

For example, I want to be able to write DLLs that connect to my Microsoft
Cloud SQL server stuff, etc.

They didn’t even address if they could do this or not.

I’ll keep checking

Thank you for your response, it is really appreciated
