Internet Explorer through LAN connection

I am having a terrible time setting up a Laptop that I
have connected to our network to access the internet
through the LAN.

I have the TCP/IP properties set to DHCP and I have the
gateway set correctly.

I have used the setup wizard to use automatic proxy
setting, but it will not connect. When I use the modem it
connects just fine.

Any suggestions?

Do you have other computers on your LAN accessing the internet thru
the proxy? Can you extract the proxy settings from them?

Also, compare "ipconfig /all" from one of the existing computers and
your laptop.

Remove all gateways and disable dns.
