Hello,

I have problem with IE 6 and IE 7.

When I type in IE wrong domain name example: www.google.t (this is non
existing domain). IE just hang up for ~2 minutes. In this time as I see in
network analyzer:

Host check local DNS for www.google.t domain. DNS reply there is no domain
like this.
Next host check WINS server fo www.google.t (wins reply: there is no host
like this)
Next host send NetBIOS broadcast in LAN (searchinf for www.google.t host).
Next:
Next host check WINS server fo www.google.t (wins reply there is no host
like this)
Next host send NetBIOS broadcast in LAN (searchinf for www.google.t host).
Next host check WINS server fo www.google.t (wins reply there is no host
like this)
Next host send NetBIOS broadcast in LAN (searchinf for www.google.t host).
and roundly for ~2 minutes host search www.google.t useing WINS and
brodcast.
Hos to limint this searching ? Why host so many times ask WINS and send
broadcast ?

Hello bildos,

Have a look here about Host name resolution and the different steps involved:

Hello bildos,

It was not about a solution, it was to show you the way and steps Name resolution
works about query a server and host files locally. So you have more then
one way for resolution of an address and that results in more then one time
showing about the same result.
Also i can not really see a problem, becasue you are talking about a non
existing address.

Best regards

Yes but when you type non existing domain example: www.google.t in Internet
Explorer you should recive in a feew second error "there is no domain like
this (or something like this)"
In my case Internet Explorer hangs/not responding for 2 minutes (is not
accessible). It's not acceptible (I can only kill iexplorer.exe process). In
this 2 minutes there is send high number of roundly request to WINS servers
and brodcast. And this is my problem. If first time there is no any reply
about domain from (DNS(only one request is send to DNS),WIND and brodcas, I
don't know why host roundly try to find non existing domain?

Hello bildos,

If the client can not resolve the name it will use all options before the
resolving process stops. So the question is why is your client not getting
a quick response from your servers. Is the client in a domain or standalone,
i assume with internet access via a router. How is DNS configured on the
domain/client?

Best regards
