I am move to new ISP, conection via broadband cable modem (via cable TV
line). Modem is attached and all network settings configured properly,
accordingly ISP requirements.

But Internet Explorer can no load any web pages. Browser status bar show
"Connecting to site: IP .. .." and correct IP, but no any page loads. At the
same time, ping is working, Outlook Express email is working, FTP program is
working, news account msnews.microsoft.coms also working. ISP say internet
signal is normal from they side, he can ping my modem from they office.

I have the following Network components installed:

Client for MS Networks;
Realtek RTL8029(AS) PCI Ethernet NIC;
TCP/IP
We tried also configure connections use Internet Conection
Wizard("connection through a LAN", no any checkbox selected for proxy
settings configuration), this not help also.

All worked normally in my previous ISP (Ethernet, LAN), I used this win98 PC
and never had any problems. ISP recommends use win XP and can no help
anymore.

I also uninstall IE6.0 SP1, back to IE5.5, but this not help. Now I can no
even install back IE6.0 SP1, since small ie6setup.exe setup file required
communicate with microsoft website to download updates -but I have no
internet connection!

Hi what have you got in your ie connectiom settings? goto tools/inet
options/connections, it should say connect directly via lan and
automatically discover settings. open up a cmd window and type ipconfig
/flush_dns and ipconfig /renew

if you can ping to google.com froma cmd window there its just a simple
config error in ie (ie and outlook use the same settings) have you
alaso ensured that the option work offline is not ticked, i believe
that under file> on the ie menu.

If you have any firewalls running try and shut them down and see if
that helps.

I've checked 'automatically detect settings' in LAN connections in IE -
this not help.
Not sure where is 'work offline' option. IE detect target website IP address
correctly and display it in browser status bar. Firewalls is
disabled.(software firewall)

I would suggest rebooting the cable modem, pull the power plug from the
back and leave out for 4-5 mins then plug back in and wait. is the
cable modem a router aswell? could be acting as a firewall. the ip
address you use on your pc, where did you get it, was it asigned to you
or did you make it up?

Finally, I reinstall IE6.0 SP1 back. Checked all network settings, then
went through Internet Conection Wizard set internet
connection again. The same result - pages not loads. ISP engineer already
tried unplug power cord then plug back into modem. Cable modem is not the
router, have no firewall built-in, it acts as broadband cable modem only
(Thomson). The IP addresss is assigned me dynamically, not static IP.
FTP work, e-mail work, only pages not loads. ISP say someting wrong in my
system. Definitely, problem is more complex, not perfectly obvious.

Problem solved. The reason was a Kaspersky antivirus! It blocked http
connection. I uninstalled it and all works.
