Internet does not automatically connect at startup

My internet connection does not automatically connect when Windows starts. I
need to start the Wireless Connection manager that came with my DWA-142
(Dlink adapter) in order to get the internet connection. I did not need to do
this before updating the driver on the DWA-142.

I know I can put a link for the Wireless Connection Manager in the "Startup"
folder, but I would like to avoid doing that. I did not have to do that
before, so I know it is possible for the internet connection to start without
the Wireless Connection Manager being loaded. D-Link technical support told
me it was a Windows issue. Someone suggested I disable Windows Zero
Config. I tried to disable Windows Zero Config by going into
MSCONFIG/Services and unchecking it , but I received an error message at
startup that said I needed to go into MSCONFIG/Startup and use "Normal
Startup".

I would prefer to use the utility that came with my adapter instead of WZC
because I was told I would get a more stable connection.

Hi
I do not think that this is a valid statement.: "I would prefer to use the
utility that came with my adapter instead of WZC because I was told I would
get a more stable connection". However it is your stuff and your call.
As for WZC, this would explain how to control it,

Is it considered common knowledge that the WZC will give a more stable
connection?

Where can I find out how to configure it?
