internet connection slow

On a pc running windows me with a wireless usb adapter
the internet connection is very slow achieving about 200
kbps. Now I have cable for my internet that is 3 mbit.
On my wireless laptop it scores the same as my pc that is
connected to the router with an ethernet cable which
would be no slower than 1500 kbps depending on the time
of day. So why is the pc with the wireless adapter so
slow when it comes to the internet? Would it have
anything to do with windows ME? Any help would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Misconfiguration on the PC. Check the wireless card on
the PC is using the same channel as the router. Also look
into the network properties: are the gateway and DNS set
to be obtained from the router ("server")?

Make sure the IE cache is not full or too small. You can
get to it through Tools|Opions.
