Internet connection sharing, ME to XP

I have installed Windows ME on a larger hard drive than
before. The computer involved gets its Internet
connection through a machine with Windows XP Pro. Since
the change of hard drives, the ME machine does not retain
its connection-sharing settings. By this, I mean that the
computer does not connect to the Internet after
rebooting. Every time I restart the machine or change
users, the only way I have found to regain Internet
connection is by re-running the netsetup.exe floppy made
by the XP machine. Any ideas on what might cause or cure
this behavior?
