internet connection problem

I have a Netgear wireless router that i installed a little after christmas,
ever since then my internet connection is slow. I have DSL, and i'm hard
wired to the router. I sometimes have to hit the refresh button on my browser
2 - 3 times before my homepage will even pop up. I also have a desktop
downstairs (running 2000pro) that is wireless and the speed on that one is as
slow as dial up. From my understanding, my connection on my upstairs computer
should be just as fast as if i were plugged into the modem. My downstairs
should be a little slower than that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
