Internet connection interrupted

I have a MN-700 Base Station, 2 laptops with MN-720
wireless notebook cards, a desktop with a Netgear MA111
wireless USB adaptor and one desktop connected directly
to the base station. My problem is that the internet
connection randomly cuts off on all computers. The only
way to get it back is by powering off the base station,
then back on. The connection lasts anywhere from 10
minutes to 5-6 hours. I have cable internet, no PPPoE...
no firewalls (besides the base station one), and no
wireless security. Also, on all computers, IEEE 802.1x
authentication disabled. I have tried different wireless
channels, connection still drops if the laptop is next to
the BS, so i highly doubt it's an interference issue. Any
suggestions? Thanks in advance... if u read this far...

I forgot to mention, I recently installed the updates,
and it hasn't helped. The connection comes back on its
own after 5-15 minutes, but usually I dont want to wait,
so i just power cycle the base station. The connection
doesn't drop when a computer is plugged directly into the
cable modem.

What form of wireless security are you using?

Have you installed the 826942 update?

How far away are you from the MN-700?

What is the firmware version on the MN-700?

as far as wireless security, i disabled it a while after
this problem started... but the problem continues, so i
doubt its that.

I'm running WinXP SP1 on all computers, and they all have
the 826942 update. The wired desktop is about 50 feet
away. The main laptop I use is about.. 3 feet away. The
wireless desktop is 15 feet away. And the other wireless
laptop is about 30 feet away.

In some logs i've seen, the disconnection sometimes
happens at 4am, meaning, nothing is being turned on that
would cause interference. The base station log doesn't
even help at all, it doesn't report any errors or
anything unusual.

As for the firmware version of the base station, it is...
2.1.2.590, boot and runtime.

Could you try logging into the base station and then logging back out again
and see if that clears up the connection problem without rebooting? If that
works, could you post the log of the base station for the time period
directly preceeding the connection problem? This won't stop the base
station from disconnecting randomly, but it will stop you from having to
reboot to reconnect. In addition, if we can pinpoint a series of network
events that causes the disconnect, perhaps we can get MS to fix it.

Well when the connection drops, I can't even get into the
base station. I've tried pinging it, but it times out.
When I do wait for the connection to come back on its
own, nothing unusual comes out in the base station's log,
or nothing at all for the period right before the problem.
?? Maybe the base station has tipped over one too many
times????

If you are not using WPA for security on your wireless you need to
uninstall the 826942 update as it has caused some problems when WPA
isn't being used.

O.R.,

I've had the same problem. Since I only have one
(currently) device, this isn't a major interruption, but
will be more so in the next 6 months as I plan to add
three more devices.

So, no help, but you're not alone.

Well apparantly, uninstalling the 826942 update didn't
help out here. But reading through some newer posts, I
saw a similar problem when someone switched from Static
IP's to DHCP. I've assigned static IP's to each computer,
and so far, its going pretty good, no interruptions. I'm
guessing the problem lies with the MN-700's DHCP server.
Anyone have any input on this?
