Internet Connection Comes on and off?

I have a wired base station with the XP Updates
installed. Recently, my internet has been going off
every five minutes or so. If I restart the base station,
the internet come right back on. Any ideas on how to fix
this problem. *It definetly isn't my modem. I have
directly connected the modem to a computer and the
problem doesn't occur.
