I just used the internet last night, but when I awoke, I found that my
internet is not working...I saw that my screen icon with green signal bars
was missing and my PORT option in device manager is missing. I am in my Navy
barracks connecting to a sprint navy wifi connection and tried everything I
could think of (even creating different types of connections and etc.)
PLEASE HELP! THANK YOU

It sounds like your Wi-Fi is turn off. Do you have a switch on your laptop
to enable Wi-Fi, or perhaps a function key combination?

I tried to press FN and a couple other buttons with it and none bring up WIFI
options or help this problem. I don't understand the fact that WINDOWS HELP
tells me the problem is my PORT (COM & LPT) option in device manager is
disabled, yet I look in device manager, and there is no Port option
underneath. I looked on my friends computer that I am on now and I see it,
but not on mine. No switch on laptop either.

OK Can you give me a model number and a brand name and I'll see if I can
find something on the Internet. If you go to device manager under Network
Adapters what do you see?

press Fn+F2 to turn your Wi-Fi on or off. I suggest trying this.

Hi
As David posted if you do not see the Wireless adaptor in the Device Manager
(and it looks like you do not), in likelihood the Radio is Off.
May be this can Help.
Turning the wireless radio on Gateway, MX3228
"After you have completed your initial Windows setup, turn on the wireless
radio.
Press FN + F2 on the keyboard to turn on the optional wireless Ethernet
radio,
or Fn+F6 to turn on the optional Bluetooth radio. The wireless networking
status indicator turns on when the wireless Ethernet radio is turned on".
Once the red light indicated that it is On, reboot and Windows would
re-install the Wireless Network connection.
The beginning of this page has few screen shots that give an example how the
Network settings should look.

I would suggest that you try the cable included with the D-Link. Yes the
wireless will work with the Brains disabled, this is what Jack's
http://www.ezlan.net/router_AP.html page shows you how to do. I'm not at all
sure that disabling this in the Black Box will allow your printers to still
function, that why I suggested doing it in the D-Link.

Even while looking at the Device Manager screen, pressing the keys do not
work...so I tried FN+F6 and nothing...I tried em all and then rebooted,
nothing...not even a "wireless connection" icon that was supposedly gonna
show after...I am out of ideas and I have tried all the keys with FN just to
be sure...I have a dimmed and undimmed monitor after and it goes into sleep
mode but thats about it...any suggestions?
