Internet and LAN

We are planning to change our network. We will be installing a new server.
We would like to know how we can keep the Internet separate from our LAN.
Would we have 2 NICS in the server one for the LAN and one for the Internet,
or would 2 separate servers be needed?

You do not need two separate servers, you can use a single
multihomed server but a firewall is best.
