I have a problem setting up my wireless network, using a Linksys
Wireless Accesspoint Router Linksys BEFW 11S4

I connected my DSL modem to the WAN port of the router and the first
LAN port to my desktop. My wife's desktop and a laptop have wireless
cards.

The router serves as DHCP and all computers are set to obtain an IP
address automatically. All computers have a unique name and belong to
the same workgroup.

I can access the Internet with all computers, but I cannot set up a
network between them to share files and printers. I'm using Xp Pro on
the desktops and Win 98 on the laptop.

Where did I go wrong, or is the router defect?

Rothi

Are you able to ping computers on your internal network ? When you
say you cannot setup a network, what does it mean ? (Win98 will
require share names to be less than 12, for example)

Backup the registry on the Windoze 98 machine (so you have a fallback ...) then nuke
the protocol stack on the Win 98 machine, reboot and reinstall it from scratch.
Include IPS/SPX, TCP/IP, Windoze networking crap, etc. Then make the drives,
resources, etc. shared. Make sure that the XP machine shares its drives. That
should do.

You can use NWlink IPX/SPX and TCP/IP, but FIRST uninstall NETBEUI off of
the machines, before installing NWlink, otherwise, you will hose the
TPC/IP stack on the machine.

The problems was my firewall. Since I switched it off, I can share
files and printers. Thanks for your help.
