Internal vs External Web Page Access

Internally, our web site can only be accessed by the IP address and not by
the actual www url. Once outside our network, the website works with the www
url. Would like to access the same way internally...users find it difficult
remembering the IP address itself. Have I missed a DNS setting? Web server
is an NT4 box.

yes is a dns problem take a look to the dns where u'r browser point.
if u use an internal dns just add u'r www.xxxx.xx and ip or just sync it

yes, after u've checked the dns where u'r browser point u can understand

why u cant resolve the name.
if u'r browser poin internal dns the problem is in it and u must add a A
name to it

Both.

[The DNS Server]
Your Internal DNS (which you should be using) needs to resolve the URL to
the *internal* IP# for the Site.
The ISP's DNS should only appear in the Forwarder's List of your own DNS
Server's configuration.

[The Client]
Then the Client should be using your internal DNS and not any other DNS.
