Just got my computer back from the shop where, among other things, we
did total system reload (98se, 510 ram, lots of power) after some weird
crashes.
All ok except that my home telephone net (for which this computer is
attached to cable and is net server) software proxy (WinProxy) cannot
find IP addresses I set for two different LAN cards in
TCP/IP, loaded separtely so they would not conflict.
When I run the iLine 10 program in Control Panel both cards are shown as
failing the reset state. One of the cards, a Netgear USB adapter, shows
my home network perfectly and I can do file transfers to and from all
computers on the net. WinProxy simply can't seem to find it and its
settings. I've looked through my device manager for conflicts, but would
not know what to look for in registry or bios if it is a hardware issue.
Finally, I tried to ping my server from clients and could not do that.
Loaded Remote Admin program it computers could not find each other.
Feels like a serious TCP/IP program, but I am clueless. Hardware,
software, missing Winsock????????
Any ideas, or suggestions on which newsgroup might be able to help me,
welcome.
I hate to send it back to the shop for a few days. Thanks!
