Internal to External to Internal Routing.

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right group, and not sure if my terminology
is correct, but here is my problem, hope someone can help.

I'm developing an application that requires a connection to a MySql
database, this in theory could be anywhere, but for development and testing
the server is local on my network.

I can of course connect to this server locally without any problems and all
is well. What I can't test is the real world situation where the Server
could be anywhere.

My router doesn't allow me to connect to an my external IP address, it just
hits the router logon, so I can't test the traffic scenario outside of my
own network and really don't want to rely on another company to host my
database while I test.

So, is there a way that I can have someone somewhere provide a kind of loop
back IP address so I can connect to an external IP and have that route to my
router, therefore my internal network?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Some router may not allow loopback. If this is a case and you have multiple
public IP addresses, you may setup NAT to test it.
