Intermittent Problem with 2008 server.........

We added a 2008 Enterprise server to a 2003 domain, moving all AD roles to
this server. There are both XP and Vista computers on this network and it
seems that after adding the new server after a certain period of time the
server stops responding to the Vista computers, or the Vista computers are
dropping the connections. The first indication is that you can't get to web
sites because they can't resolve via DNS. You also sometimes can't ping the
server. If you start looking at things such as maybe using the Vista network
diagnostics, or once when clicking on the "Network" icon and after the list
fills out double-clicking on the server, everything starts working again.for
a while. Then it all starts over again. We also moved DHCP from the old
server to the new. DNS is currently running on both servers but the clients
are set to use the new server.

Any ideas??

It has varied. On one machine yes, in fact after pinging the server
everything started working again. On another machine no. That time was when
things started working after clicking on the server in the "Network"
program, formally known as "My network Places".

It could be computer browser issue. Any errors in the event viewer?

Hello RPlatt,

Check that no firewalls are misconfigured if used. Also if not done disable
IPv6 on vista and server 2008 machines.

Additional check this one and disable them step by step:

I'm not sure. We'll be going there again today and will look.

I had disabled IPv6 on the client but not on the server. We'll try that,
too.
