Intermittent printing problems

An on-going problem. Windows 98 running on Dell notebook,
trying to print to an HP CLJ 4550N, multiple platform
drivers are installed on, and the printer is shared from a
WINNT 4.0, SP6, PC. No spaces in the share name. 4550N
has a JetDirect card, 610n, with an assigned ip address
which can be pinged from the Windows 98 computer.

Having intermittent printing problems from multiple
applications, even "print test page" from printer
properties. I've tried setting it up as a network printer
browsing to the PC acting as the print server. I've tried
installing as a local printer then creating a TCP/IP
printer port. I've created an LPR port on the printer
server PC.

Having no problems printing to the 4550N from other PCs in
office, all of which are NT or 2000.
