I see a few posts here and there on USB/Card bus intermittent connectivity.

I have D-Link equipment
DI-624 wireless router
DWL-G520 PCI in a desktop
DWL 650+ card bus in a laptop

I am experiencing the same problems with a laptop I have. I tried the USB
wireless device 1st. (DWL 120+) In 98 it was working just fine, I then
upgraded to WIN XP, and thats when the problem started. I thought I
installed the drivers incorrectly, but re-instalation had no better results.
Worked with D-Link support over the phone. They have no ideas. I took the
device back and got another one. Went home and installed. Same symptom.
Intermittent connectivity. Shows an excellent connection, then all of a
sudden the link is lost, then re-establishes itself. I took this device back
and got the cardbus device. Installed and again, the intermittent
connectivity. I checked device settings and all. no go. I am thinking it
has something to do with a process or something running that may cause the
loss of the signal. I have basically eliminated the adapters as the source
of the problem. The desktop never experiences this porblem. It is in the
same room as the laptop. Both are a mere 15 - 20 feet from the DI-624
wireless router. When I put the laptop next to the router, the problem does
not go away, thus I have eliminated the distance/wall obstacles. I have
tried different channels, with no success. I believe something in the OS or
some process is causing the problem. Does anyone hav e any additional ideas?
Thanks...

I think the problem may be the D-Link equipment. I just bought a
D-Link router and it won't work with two different Win XP computers.
These are computers that work with two other routers instantly by just
plugging them into it, no configuration needed. With the D-Link there
is all of this hassle of playing around with settings, tech support,
etc, and still it won't work. Sorry to say, but D-Link is crap.

Please let us know how it works out.

Another one to stay away from is Belkin. I bought a Belkin wireless
access point today. After going through a pain in the ass routine to
set it up it worked for less than a minute before it quit. I tried
the "24 hour" tech support line. After navigating about 5 minutes of
voice menus you get a busy signal. I tried several times. Oh well,
another POS goes back in the box and back to the store. Belkin should
stick with cables and surge protectors.

I have re-enabled encryption on my systems and still all is ok. Problem
appears to have cleared up with the updated drivers for the router. I went
from v1.12 to v1.24

I hope this helps someone else out there...
