I'm running DSL through a Linksys wireless network adapter and an Apple
Airport Express wireless router. It seems like ever since I installed XP
Service Pack 2 that my broadband connection has been very sketchy. I called
Linksys tech support and they said that the SP2 has a bug in it that causes
wireless routers to drop periodically if you have a 2.4 GH portable phone
(which I have). However, I tried to unplug the phone, yet the broadband
connection is still sketchy. Is there something within my networking
properties that I need to adjust so that I don't have to tinker with my
settings every 10 minutes?

thanks
-a.

Linksys support is wrong. It isn't Windows XP or Service Pack 2, Andy, it
is that the 2.4 GHz phones or other appliances on the same frequency will
interrupt wireless transmission. It doesn't matter what operating system
you're running, if you've got a 2.4 telephone, chances are it will force a
dropped connection.

If you can set the phone channel really high (like 32 or so), and drop your
wireless to perhaps channel 1, you might be able to compensate for it,
otherwise, I would look for a different phone. I run either 900 MHz or the
5.8 GHz cordless phones here, without problems.
