Hi I have strange behaveour onto some of bunch same Intel servers,
motherboard's are Intel S3000AH, platform is Intel SR-1530AH 1U
rackmount chasis, NIC1 is integrated PCIeX Intel Pro 1000 PM configured
for auto negotitation 1000 (not auto detect), Intel LAN drivers package
12.0 (9.7.34.0) with ProSet. Port's on switch are configured for VLAN's.
Windows Server is 2003 Standard R2 with SP2 and all updates.

For Example on one server When I restart server all NIC's in systray are
lighted up (hardware NIC1 and two VLAN NICs) but I can't ping anything
other than localhost or IP od that server. If I disable physical NIC and
enable it everything start's working and I can ping other computers.

Second server is one big mistery. Same as first one but disabling
enabling NIC does not fixing problem. If I plug out network cable from
NIC1 and bring back two VLAN card's (public and private) are UP but
physical NIC1 is not connected and I can't ping nothing. If I disable
and enable physical NIC1 I can only ping localhost or VLAN card's IP.
After few retries sometimes network goes up sometimes don't but this can
only be done via server console.

This is very stressing situation because when sometimes I must restart
server in far away location from me I can not go to that server anymore
because network card's are down but server show's them up

Does anyone have similiar problem or any other clue what might be a
problem and how to solve it ?

Hello CNenad,

So you're servers have more then one physical NIC connected to different
networks?

Best regards

Yes, servers have two physical NIC's. NIC2 is configured with private IP and
connected to port for private network on switch and that port on switch is in
down state (this is for workaround if I can not gain access through NIC1, I
enable port on swtich and can access to server).

NIC1 is configured with VLAN's (one VLAN for private network and second VLAN
for public network) and connected to switch onto VLAN port.

Hello Nenad,

Think that your problem is the NIC configuration. Please post an ipconfig
/all from the servers and what you are trying to built up with this kind
of setup, how the network should work together.
